Waiting On Wednesday A Darkness Strange & Lovely by @stdennard & Crown Of Midnight by @SJMaas

Hosted by

This Wednesday I'm waiting on two young adult reads. Both are book #2's in a series and both of these authors happen to be beastie's, and I loved both of these authors books.

My first pick is A Darkness Strange and Lovely. It is book #2 in the Something Strange and Deadly series. I read the first book in the series and really enjoyed the world-building and strong characters, especially Eleanor. See my review for SS&D  HERE

A Darkness Strange and Lovely
by Susan Dennard
Expected publication: July 23rd 2013 by HarperTeen
Goodreads

A Darkness Strange and Lovely (Something Strange and Deadly, #2)

Following an all-out battle with the walking Dead, the Spirit Hunters have fled Philadelphia, leaving Eleanor alone to cope with the devastating aftermath. But there’s more trouble ahead—the evil necromancer Marcus has returned, and his diabolical advances have Eleanor escaping to Paris to seek the help of Joseph, Jie, and the infuriatingly handsome Daniel once again. When she arrives, however, she finds a whole new darkness lurking in this City of Light. As harrowing events unfold, Eleanor is forced to make a deadly decision that will mean life or death for everyone.

Something Strange and Deadly (Something Strange and Deadly, #1)

My second pick is Crown Of Midnight. One of my top picks for favorite YA books last year was Throne Of Glass. I love the whole series of novella's as well as TOG, so I'm highly anticipating this next installment to see our strong heroine, Celanea keep up with her rouse and fight as she always does, with strength and character! See my review for TOG HERE

Crown Of Midnight
by Sarah J. Maas
Expected publication: August 27th 2013 by Bloomsbury USA Childrens
Goodreads

Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass, #2)
An assassin’s loyalties are always in doubt.
But her heart never wavers
.

After a year of hard labor in the Salt Mines of Endovier, eighteen-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien has won the king's contest to become the new royal assassin. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown – a secret she hides from even her most intimate confidantes.
Keeping up the deadly charade—while pretending to do the king's bidding—will test her in frightening new ways, especially when she's given a task that could jeopardize everything she's come to care for. And there are far more dangerous forces gathering on the horizon -- forces that threaten to destroy her entire world, and will surely force Celaena to make a choice.

Where do the assassin’s loyalties lie, and who is she most willing to fight for?

I had a pretty good week,  I received a few surprises, and one of them is from one of my fav. authors Lara Adrian! Totally surprised by the arc copy of Edge Of Dawn, the fantastic pens, and bookmarks, and the heartwarming Christmas Card. And don't worry I'll be sharing the amazing swag from Lara as part of my 1500 GFC Giveaway (coming soon) and my 1 Year Blogoversary Giveaway coming in Jan. I also purchased a few e-books, because they were marked down on Amazon, and received some awesome books for review, and I received a giveaway package that I won, although I though I only won a bookmark, I actually received the book also!
Hope everyone has a great week as the holidays are quickly approaching I still haven't finished shopping, but I did finish baking already, and froze the desserts for the holidays, strike that off my list!

Blogger News:

Many of you already know Giselle from Xpresso Reads, right, but did you know she has branched out, into  two new great ideas. First she has started a Blog Design site. Not only will she design blogs, but she can freshen up your blog with new buttons, meme designs, event buttons and sooo much more. She is in the process of redesigning my blog, and I'm also seeing her for my 1500 follower giveaway event button and my upcoming blog anniversary button in Dec. What's so great about ordering the event buttons from her, you ask? Well, not only does she come up with a great design BUT, she offers FREE advertising on her amazing blog -Xpresso Reads, which offers great exposure, since she has a great following base. So plan an event, order your button from her for a low rate, and free advertise the event for up to a month on her blog-sounds like a win-win plan to me!
Her second venture is starting a book touring company! Whoa, she will be busy,  but I'm sure she will be able to handle it. You can check out her design site HERE and her Tour site HERE.

If your an Amazon customer or have purchased e-books from Amazon many of you may have received an e-mail stating that you are entitled to a refund from the top three publishing houses, for overcharging e-books(ha, you think?)

amazon.com

Dear Kindle Customer,

We have good news. You are entitled to a credit for some of your past e-book purchases as a result of legal settlements between several major e-book publishers and the Attorneys General of most U.S. states and territories, including yours. You do not need to do anything to receive this credit. We will contact you when the credit is applied to your Amazon.com account if the Court approves the settlements in February 2013.

Hachette, Harper Collins, and Simon & Schuster have settled an antitrust lawsuit about e-book prices. Under the proposed settlements, the publishers will provide funds for a credit that will be applied directly to your Amazon.com account. If the Court approves the settlements, the account credit will appear automatically and can be used to purchase Kindle books or print books. While we will not know the amount of your credit until the Court approves the settlements, the Attorneys General estimate that it will range from $0.30 to $1.32 for every eligible Kindle book that you purchased between April 2010 and May 2012. Alternatively, you may request a check in the amount of your credit by following the instructions included in the formal notice of the settlements, set forth below. You can learn more about the settlements here:
www.amazon.com/help/agencyebooksettlements

In addition to the account credit, the settlements impose limitations on the publishers’ ability to set e-book prices. We think these settlements are a big win for customers and look forward to lowering prices on more Kindle books in the future.

Thank you for being a Kindle customer.

The Amazon Kindle Team
