The Goddess Test meets Dexter in an edgy, compelling debut about one teen’s quest for revenge… no matter how far it takes her.  Cory Graff is not alone in her head. Bound to a deal of desperation made when she was a child, Cory’s mind houses the Furies—the hawk and the serpent—lingering always, waiting for her to satisfy their bloodlust. After escaping the asylum where she was trapped for years, Cory knows how to keep the Furies quiet. By day, she lives a normal life, but by night, she tracks down targets the Furies send her way. And she brings down Justice upon them.  Cory’s perfected her system of survival, but when she meets a mysterious boy named Niko at her new school, she can’t figure out how she feels about him. For the first time, the Furies are quiet in her head around a guy. But does this mean that Cory’s finally found someone who she can trust, or are there greater factors at work? As Cory’s mind becomes a battlefield, with the Furies fighting for control, Cory will have to put everything on the line to hold on to what she’s worked so hard to build.

Why I Wrote Vengeance Bound
By Justina Ireland

Why do boys get to have all of the fun?
That was the thought that prompted me to write Vengeance Bound.  I was pretty big into reading YA and had happened upon a string of paranormal romance novels that felt very familiar.  It’s not that I thought I could write something better or that I didn’t enjoy them.  It was just that I was struck by how many times it was the guy that got to be special.  The female lead was Plain Jane high school student and the boy?  Well, the hero was a vampire or an angel or a werewolf or a merman or a knife juggling demon-clown…whatever.  And time after time the girl was kind of standing on the sidelines waiting for the ultra-special guy to notice her, to invite her into his world.  You know, after much reluctance on his part.
And that made me feel kind of less than happy.  Why shouldn’t the girl be special?  Why shouldn’t she have the super special zing that captivated the boy?
Why couldn’t she have issues like sneaking out at night to kill bad guys because mythological creatures were living in her head?
So I started writing Vengeance Bound.  Of course, YA has evolved and changed in that time period, and I like to think that paranormal is giving equal time now to both guys and gals being special and having issues besides life in general.
Luckily, Cory is here to make sure it stays that way.

About the Author:

Justina Ireland enjoys dark chocolate, dark humor, and is not too proud to admit that she’s still afraid of the dark. She lives with her husband, kid, and dog in Pennsylvania. Vengeance Bound is her first novel.

Hardcover, 320 pages
Expected publication: April 2nd 2013 by HarperCollins
Goodreads/Amazon

How far will you go when you have nothing left to lose?

When she lost her soul mate, Caleb, Eve felt like her world had ended. Trapped in the palace, forced to play the part of the happy, patriotic princess of The New America—and the blushing bride of her father's top adviser—Eve's whole life is a lie. The only thing that keeps her going is Caleb's memory, and the revolution he started.

Now, Eve is taking over where Caleb left off. With the help of Moss, an undercover subversive in the King's court, she plots to take down The New America, beginning with the capital, the City of Sand. Will Eve be able to bring about a new, free world when she's called upon to perform the ultimate act of rebellion—killing her father?

In Rise, Eve must choose who to leave behind, who to save, and who to fight as Anna Carey's epic tale of romance and sacrifice in the chilling dystopia of The New America comes to a stunning conclusion.

Hello Anna, Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to stop by my blog, today!

What can we expect to see in the final installment of The Eve Trilogy?

It’s hard to say anything without giving something away, but the third book in the series is the most panic inducing. Eve makes another life-altering discovery and feels the repercussions of that throughout the story. She loses several people she’s close to and is more alone than she’s ever been.
Eve’s a very strong heroine, where did your inspiration come from when writing about her?

I wanted to write a character who was incredibly sheltered, had no survival skills, and believed everything she’d been taught. I wanted to challenge her beliefs and push her to her limits. When Eve goes beyond the compound walls she’s convinced she’ll die. Watching her change and grow was the most enjoyable part of the writing process. She becomes stronger than she (or I) ever thought possible.
When writing about the New America, where did you draw your inspiration from?

Everywhere. There are a lot of isolated hikes in Southern California (where I currently live) and I’ve imagined what it would be like to be attacked by a bear. That scene came straight from my own (semi-irrational) fears. Other scenes were born out of wondering what the world would look like without us in it. I love the idea that ugly strip malls might eventually be swallowed by nature, covered over with ivy and moss.
What projects are you currently working on?

I’m working on a new two-book YA series called Blackbird. It’s a bit of a mystery. More details soon…
If the Eve trilogy were to be made into a movie, what actors would play your characters?

I’m currently watching Vampire Diaries and I’m obsessed with everyone on that show. When I answered my first fantasy casting questions I’d seen pictures of Paul Wesley, and thought he was a good dark brooding type, possibly someone who would play Leif. After watching the show, he is definitely a Caleb. Definitely.
I’ve always thought Ashley Greene from Twilight would be a great Arden, and Rooney Mara (or someone like her) would be a great Eve.

.Book Blast $50 #Giveaway: Blue Hearts of Mars by @grotepas Nicole Grotepas

Blue Hearts of Mars by Nicole Grotepas

Retta Heikkinen knows the unspoken rule of society: love between androids and humans is forbidden. A simple enough edict until Hemingway Koskinen spends an evening charming her with his intense gaze, bewitching smile, and sparkling conversation that hints at so much more than the usual obsessions of high school boys. Rules were meant to be cast aside, especially when love beckons.

If only it were as simple as being in love.

Trouble is brewing, not just for Hemingway--for all androids. Secrets have been kept, lies propagated, and Retta soon discovers that a frightening future awaits thousands of androids if she doesn’t do something to stop it. Worse yet, she will lose the one love she’s ever endangered herself for: Hemingway.

Praise

"Nothing like I've read before. A true original story! Everything is so well described. Now if they could make a follow up book and movie, that would be great!" ~Mrs. Z (Amazon)

"I was addicted to this book from the beginning. Life on Mars was very real and not at all a sci fi world I didn't understand . . . I found myself rooting for Retta and Hemingway from the very beginning. Easy reading, couldn't put it down and had it read in a weekend. Waiting for a sequel!" ~TNielsen (Amazon)

"The ending of this book is exceptional. While it was different from what I imagined, the way the author brought in a shocking revelation was amazing. I probably reread the last chapter 3 times letting it sink in and the meaning behind it. It was truly beautiful . . . I would love to see more of Retta and Hemingway!" ~Kat Meyer, (Goodreads)

"I love how the author populated Mars . . . so descriptive and comprehensive . . . I could clearly picture everything as if I was seeing the movie &/or was along for the ride. . . . Retta, the main character, is strong, opinionated, and a great champion for her cause." ~Megan (Amazon)

"I had been in the worst reading slump ever and came across this on Goodreads and thought I'd give it a try. Well, I was pleasantly surprised on how funny and exciting and mysterious it was . . . Mei, Retta's bff, had me laughing out loud quite a bit as well as Retta herself. I'd definitely hang out with those two." ~Deanneluvbooks (Goodreads)
