Armchair BEA

It's that time of the year!! Armchair BEA is back!! Over the course of this week, you will see daily posts on this blog for Armchair BEA. There will be discussions, giveaways, and more! Don't forget to stop back for all the fun.

Today's topic for discussion, Introductions! I'm going to be sharing some fun facts about me and the blog!

Hi guys!! *waves*

This is my second year attending BEA! I really had a blast last year, and had fun chatting and visiting new2me blogs.
My real name is Lisa, but in the blogging world I'm Silverlight or Silverlight00 (a name that was given to me from a video game junkie friend)
I'm a married (14years) SAHM, I have 4 kiddo's to wrangle on a daily basis.

I live in New England USA in the smallest state in the union-Rhode Island. Being the smallest state, we don't have many bookish events, but were not far from Boston(about an hour or so away).

Of course my biggest passion is reading, blogging, and chatting with friends on the net.
I've been blogging since Jan, 2012 -although this blog officially was started on Dec 28, 2011

This blog was quoted in Blood WinterMy first fan girl moment was in Jan, 2012, when one of my favorite authors -Diana Pharaoh Francis, commented through twitter about my review, for Crimson Wind. She called it lovely, and twittered it out to her fans! I freaked out and cried happy tears! That review earned me a place in her new book Blood Winter, where I freaked out even more, when I saw my quote in the book!!!

Some things you may not know about me- I LOVE to dance, cook, hike, fish, garden, the beach, and love to go bargain hunting-Yard sales, thrift stores, used bookstores, and more.
Before book blogging, I was a coupon junkie and was a moderator for a popular New England web site.
My reading tastes have changed over the past year, yes I still love to read paranormal, urban fantasy, and fantasy books, but last year around Oct. I started reading more and more contemporary romance, new adult, and erotica! Surprising myself by enjoying these genres, because I was not a fan of them at all! Now, I read them more than pnr/uf/fan. reads.

Before book blogging, you could find me on Shelfari, where I started chatting and making friends with awesome people. I really loved Shelfari over Goodreads, at the time. Shelfari was not intimidating and has a close community. Unfortunately, since blogging I don't have time to chat with my friends from Shelfari, as much, and I do miss them!! Now, I'm more active on Goodreads, because the data base is easier to use for bloggers, and almost all information from book covers, to synopsis comes from Goodreads, to share on my blog.

Of course being a blogger introduced me to not only great books, authors, pubs, but the # 1 thing that I love is the actual bloggers. I love visiting blogs, I only wish I had more time to do it! My love for blogs can be found HERE.

My favorite blogs that I try to visit on a daily basis are:

The Bookish Babe - A great honest blogger who shares her love for Romance, Indie books, and all things in between. She has opened my eyes to so many great books!
Kimba The Caffeinated Book Reviewer - A little bit of everything, Kimba reviews books on a daily basis, she also comes up with many different ideas, challenges, etc. She also is the host of The Sunday Post, a great way to share what you featured on your blog, what books you received, and future post, for your blog. A great leader Kim has a great daily following.
My Parahangover  -My bf in the blogging world! One of the first bloggers that I chatted with and became friends with. She's a great springboard to my ideas. Life is busy for her, right now, but someday soon, she'll be back full force! *Smooches*
Xpresso Reads -One of the first blogs I followed, Giselle is a rock star and has expanded her blog to become a blog designer and book tour coordinator. She is responsible for my blog redesign, and I love her reviews!
Maryse's Book Blog -LOVE her informative blog, her reviews are usually fan girling about contemp. romance, new adult, and erotica. Even though she started as a paranormal romance/UF fan, she has made the switch, and has introduced me to so many great books!

Lastly, I want to thank you for visiting and to all my readers who have visited or have commented with me through the blog or one of my social media sites. I love you guys, and hope you have a great week!!  ~Happy Reading~

  1. Happy Armchair BEA week! It's nice to meet you. :) Rhode Island is so pretty. I love that part of the country, and actually lived in Maryland for a few years. Like you, I was not really a fan of contemporary romance before I started blogging. Funny how things change. :) Have fun this week!

  7. Where I live we don't get many bookish events either. I either have to go to Nashville or over into North Carolina. I hope you have a fun time this week. :)

  10. I learned so much about you Lisa, I adore your first fan-girl moment and can just imagine it. We have a lot in common as far as hobbies outside of books. Thanks for the shout-out and wonderful thinks you said. I adore the other blogs you mentioned and totally agree..they rock!

  11. Wow, that's so awesome that you got your quote in her book!!! That's HUGE!!! :)

My main genre is still anything to do with paranormal, though I am trying to venture outside my comfort zone. Are there any great contemporary books you would recommend to a "newbie"? :)

  16. I love it when authors interact with you on Twitter!! It's always so awesome to get retweets of reviews, or even just a "thanks!" from the author. :D And that's SO cool that your review ended up being quoted!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog :)

  17. I kind of thought you were really moving towards NA/contemps/erotica books!!! It's been really neat to see your tastes move from YA/fantasy/PNR to your new love!!! Maybe you need a new tagline for the blog... Paranormal & Urban Fantasy Reviews... with a whole lotta lovin' mixed in *chickabowwow*... yeah, needs a little work!!!

    I LOVE YOU MAN!!!! xoxoxoxoxo!!!!

  18. Hi Lisa! It's nice to meet you. Your post has reminded me that I must read another of Diana Pharoah Francis' books. I read The Cipher a couple of years ago and have been meaning to continue with the series ever since.

I'm on both GoodReads and Shelfari, but much prefer Shelfari (I've been on it since almost the beginning). I love the people I've meet through the site.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm looking forward to reading your Armchair BEA post.

  22. I have meant to do Armchair BEA for ages! Unfortunately I'm just too busy to fit it in!
I was a shelfari fiend before I started blogging! Actually I had my friends on there and three of us decided to blog at the same time. I kind of miss that place, I haven't frequented it in ages now!
It was great to get to know you better Lisa!

  23. Hey Lisa! So happy you found my post today since I forgot to link up. I have always wanted to visit Rhode Island since I did a report on it in the fifth grade. Your blog is only a few weeks younger than mine since I started November 2011. How do you manage to keep up with four kiddos? I struggle with two!

  24. I love it when I get a response from an author, even if it is just something simple. I almost came unglued when Neil Gaiman replied to me about a Dr. Who comment once. :)

  25. Ahh Lisa, you don't live all that far from me!! I am in Western Mass. I am amazed at how you keep up with your blog with 4 kiddos. I only have one and struggle with it. Great post!!

  26. Your Blood Winter experience sounds awesome!! I love it when an author thanks me for a review, tweets about it, or emails me :)
I also enjoy bargain hunting, but unfortunately there aren't that many thrift stores around here - mostly vintage stuff that is still quite expensive :/ If I ever make it to the US I will wipe those stores clean :P
Oh and I agree, Kimba's and Giselle's blogs are fantastic! I wish I could be as organized and poignant!

  27. That's so exciting about that author tweeting out your review and including a quote from it! Wow. I hope you've had (and will have) many similar experiences!
I've been to Rhode Island a few times and it's very pretty. And you're right - while it may be small, it's close to bigger metropolises, which is always nice.
Hope you have a great Armchair BEA week!
