Love, a beautiful, mixed-up journey. Two people whom love each other but can't manage to find the right path to happiness, together....

The Opportunist was a captivating read for me. I started it after reading some positive reviews and found myself drawn into the story right away.

Olivia and Caleb have a deep love, soulmates is the word that comes to mind, but their connection is not the lovey dovey type. No, instead it's a push/pull type of relationship. They are like puppets to each other, each holding a pair of scissors to cut the strings and heart of each other.  They meet in college and Olivia, being the way she is quickly pushes Caleb away. She wants him, then she doesn't. They date, then fall apart. Through it all they never sleep together, but form a frustrating relationship. They don't communicate fully and draw conclusions in the negative way. So when Olivia comes across Caleb and a flirty girl, she assumes they have been together and withdrawals into her shell, and the relationship is done.

Fast forward a few years later, these two happen too meet up in a record store. Caleb makes a decision that alters his life, Olivia does the same, and these two are back in each others life but this time around is laced with lies, as Caleb has been faking amnesia and is determined to win over Olivia and break her through her shell. The love these two have for another is strong and they have a familiar rhthym with each other.

What gets in the way is the EVIL DEMON, Leah, Caleb's girlfriend. I know what your thinking, ummm, yes, I said Caleb's girlfriend, but she is more like a stand-in for Olivia in Caleb's mind. Holy moly this girl is wicked, but I enjoyed her character. I loved how she threw a monkey wrench into these two lovebirds plans, and basically destroys their relationship. Leah makes the story, without her we would be bored with these two. She's conivying and convincing and she doesn't go down without a fight! Proving she's more then meets the eye!

Tarryn Fisher portrays an outstanding story and her written words grabbed my attention right from the start. The drama she unfolds is like crack for my mind. I loved the ups and downs of the plot and  enjoyed the main characters and the secondary characters as well. I found myself immersed in the characters and their lives and the whole allure of Olivia and Caleb.

Tarryn  you rocked this book and series. I actually already read Dirty Red, and Thief, the second and third book in this series and cannot wait for more from this fantastic writer.

5/5

This song reminds me of Olivia and Caleb's relationship....

“I have finally accepted that there are consequences to every action. I earned them and they are rightfully mine. There is no time to make bad decisions. Every step is precious. The definition of living is mine.”

“Please don't forget me, because the possibility of that hurts more than anything else.”

“Olivia, you can have any man you want. Why him ? Why is it always about Caleb ?" "Because...because I didn't need anyone until I met him.”

“I love you too, Olivia. More than I could ever love another soul. There hasn't been a single hour in seven years that I haven't thought of you.”
