Some things are worth waiting for…
Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.
Some things are worth experiencing…
Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.
Some things should never be kept quiet…
But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?
And some things are worth fighting for

J. Lynn NEW YORK TIMES and USA TODAY Bestselling author Jennifer lives in Martinsburg, West Virginia. All the rumors you’ve heard about her state aren’t true. When she’s not hard at work writing. she spends her time reading, working out, watching really bad zombie movies, pretending to write, and hanging out with her husband and her Jack Russel Loki.
Her dreams of becoming an author started in algebra class, where she spent most of her time writing short stories….which explains her dismal grades in math. Jennifer writes young adult paranormal, science fiction, fantasy, and contemporary romance. She is published with Spencer Hill Press, Entangled Teen and Brazen, Disney/Hyperion and Harlequin Teen. She also writes adult romance and New Adult romace under the name J. Lynn

A book that flows well and has all the aspects of the New Adult genre, With a swoonworthy guy, and a broken girl J.Lynn touches upon a serious social subject and the ramifications that follow.

Avery is nineteen, attends college, and seems to be an average girl, but this so-called average girl has secrets. Secrets that she wants to keep hidden from everyone. Secrets that have torn her family apart, and have made her insecure, especially in the boyfriend dept. having never been in a relationship. As the first day of college is already filled with anxiety, Avery seems to be in for it when she "plows" into a good looking hottie.

Cam is hot, yes, and popular especially with the ladies, but he seems to have a really sweet side to him. He bakes, has a pet turtle, and seems to be a caring guy, especially with Avery.  Their were some quirks that Cam had that had me gagging, like him calling her sweetheart, since day one. For me if your going to call me sweetheart, you better be old, or dating me. Not some random guy, who I just met, anyway. Yea, it bothered me a little. He just meets her and throws out sweetheart so many times.

These two slowly build a friendship, with Cam wanting more. He wants to date Avery, but she turns him down, and what ensues is a playful cat and mouse sort of play, and they seem to always run into each other. Cam is slowly winning her over, even when she rejects him, but as time goes by, Avery grows to enjoy Cam and his comforting ways. I mean who couldn't, he bakes cookies, that are sinful. Yea, J. Lynn won me over in the cookie dept. :)

As time goes by we see that Avery's past is always haunting her. She receives calls from a stranger leaving cryptic messages from her past.  As Avery seems to always push Cam away he seems to always be there for her, but the last straw of her push maybe too late, and may push Cam away for good, and with a past she must battle, and face will all collapse around her forever? -Not going to spoil it for you!

I did seem to like this story, although at times for me, I felt I couldn't connect with the characters. I'm not sure what it was exactly as to why I couldn't connect with them 100%, like I would of liked too. I think maybe it was Cam, that I couldn't connect with. He is swoony, but as I was reading, I always felt like there was something hidden or explosive in him, but I was wrong, he just a reg. Joe, and maybe that's why I felt weird with him. Maybe, I needed him to be a little more darker, a bad boy. I know we see a lot of them, but I do love my bad boys.
I mean I did like aspects of the story, and I loved how Jen, threw in Duck Dynasty, and naming a character in the book, Jace, in reference to the show, was fun. I've seen tweets were Jen, is gushing about the show DD, and liking Jace, so that aspect was fun, and I can't wait to see his book, but I think for me the story was just OK, not mind blowing.

"Yeah, I can see that and while the idea of taking you right now, against the wall is enough to make me lose control, I want you to know I'm serious. You're not a hook up. You're not a friend with benefits. Your more than that to me>"  ~Cam to Avery
