Two years after her best friend was involved in a car accident that caused a traumatic brain injury, Lottie Anders is ready to start her freshman year of college. Ready to move on. Ready to start forgetting the night that ripped her life apart.

Her plans come to a screeching halt when not one, but both brothers responsible for the accident end up back in her life again.

Zack is cruel, selfish and constantly rubbing what happened to her friend in Lottie's face.

Zan is different. He listens to her awkward ramblings. He loves "To Kill a Mockingbird" as much as she does, and his dark eyes are irresistible. His words are few and far between, but when he does speak, she can't help but listen.

The trouble is, Zan was the driver in the accident, and now Lottie's discovered he lied to her about what happened that night. Now she must decide if trusting him again will lead to real forgiveness, or deeper heartache

Deeper We Fall, was an enjoyable, realistic read. We get a broken past from characters who's lives are intertwined because of one awful mistake. Lives are changed forever!Chelsea Cameron knows how to write a cast of characters, and a good storyline, that will have you invested in all of the characters and their lives.

Lottie and her best friend Lexi  are at a outdoor high school party. They don't really drink, but after Lexi gets attention from one of the Parker brothers, Zack. Lexi easily and quickly becomes tipsy, and Zack is all over her. Lottie comes to her friends rescue and wants to go home, but seeing as Lexi is buzzed, Lottie knows she can't drive, so Zack offers the girls a ride home, but he's buzzed too, so Lottie is adamant not to go with them and tries her best to sway Lexi from riding with a person who's been drinking. Zack's younger brother Zan offers to drive them home, but he doesn't have his license yet, but seems to be the best choice, but Lottie does the smart thing and doesn't ride with the trio. Lucky for her, it turns out to be a VERY smart decision.  An accident sends her best friend, Lexi's world upside down. She suffered a significant brain injury and will never be the same, EVER. AGAIN. As far as the boys, they both escape without serious injury, but Zan's life feels forever altered, as he is charged with driving without a license, resulting in injury he spends a year in a detention center, and Zack walks free. Of course, Lottie is guilty over letting her friend go with the brother's and she will hold onto that guilt for the rest of her life.

Flash forward two years, and we have Lottie off to college with her twin brother. Everything seems to be going good. She meets her college roomie, Katie. Katie is a somewhat spoiled princess who flaunts her love for her boyfriend, right from the start. As they unpack, Katie's boyfriend comes in and literally BLOWS Lottie away! It's Zack! The same vile guy who screwed up her friends life. Lottie is so shocked that he's in her room she can't believe he's in the same college, living in the same dorm, and going out with her roomie. She can't handle it, and when he tells her his brother is living here too, she basically can't control her feelings and runs out of the room.

Now, that Lottie must except both brothers in school, she has to confront all of her guilty feelings all over again. Same goes for Zan. He feels sorry for what happened and has a hard time figuring out and controlling his feelings. Zan has liked Lottie for years and wants nothing more than for her to forgive him, but with all of the mixed feelings Lottie has she finds she finds it hard to deal with the brother's, especially the certifiable jerk Zack! As Zan and Lottie's friendship grows, she finds she wants to hate him, but can't. They have a tender, sweet, friendship, but with all that's happened Lottie holds on to so much anger for her bff, she takes a lot of her emotions out on Zan. Zan takes it all in and still falls more for Lottie. He's patient and kind, although with dual POV's from Lottie and Zan, we do see some inner demons in Zan's life.

Zack, is a Jerk through and through. He never feels remorse, he constantly treats his brother, and those around him very badly. He treats everyone around him like he's a king. He treats woman badly, and feels like he never does anything wrong. He never feels guilty for his actions. He is the complete opposite of Zan. Katie "loves" him, but all he shows her is hurt, and by the end you just want to kick Zack right were it counts. Seriously, he is so unlikable, you will hate him by the end.

Deeper We Fall, was a good story, that was well written and sucked you into the characters and of realistic circumstances. A story that shows many deep feelings, hurt, guilt, passion, anger, forgiveness,  and broken characters that manage to find a way to something deeper. Chelsea Cameron knows how to write a cast of characters, and a good storyline, that will have you invested in all of the characters and their lives.

  1. Yay so happy you enjoyed it! I love character oriented books which I think is why I enjoy NA books so much they mostly seem to be big on characters and broken pasts that are just like cookies and cream to me >.<
