Book Description:

A fallen boxer. A woman with a broken dream. A competition… IS HE FOR REAL? He makes me forget my name. One night was all it took, and I forgot everything and anything except the sexy fighter in the ring who sets my mind ablaze and my body on fire with wanting... Remington Tate is the strongest, most confusing man I've ever met in my life. He's the star of the dangerous Underground fighting circuit, and I'm drawn to him as I've never been drawn to anything in my life. I forget who I am, what I want, with just one look from him. When he's near, I need to remind myself that I am strong--but he is stronger. And now it's my job to keep his body working like a perfect machine, his taut muscles primed and ready to break the bones of his next opponents . . . But the one he's most threatening to, now, is me.  I want him. I want him without fear. Without reservations.  If only I knew for sure what it is that he wants from me?

his gaze swings in my direction and crashes onto me. Piercing blue eyes meet mine, and something knots and pulls inside my tummy.
He’s panting, sweaty, his chest rising and falling, a drop of blood at the corner of his lips. And his eyes are glued to me.
Heat spreads under my skin, and  the flames lick me all over. I will never admit this to Melanie, not even to myself out loud, but I think I’ve never seen such a hot man in my life. The way he stares at me is hot. The way he stands there, with his hand held in the air, his muscles dropping sweat, the air of authority Mel told me about in the cab.
There’s no apology in his stare. In the way he ignores everyone that’s shouting his name and stares at me with a look that’s so sexual I almost feel taken right here. An awful awareness of the exact way I look to him sweeps over me. My hair loose, the color of mahogany, tumbles to my shoulders. My button-up white shirt is sleeveless, but it goes up my throat in a lacy mock-neck and, and the hem is tucked nicely into a pair of high-waisted, but perfectly presentable black pants. A small set of gold hoop earrings nicely complements my honeyed whiskey eyes. But I feel, despite my decent choice of clothes, completely naked.
My legs wobble, and I’m left with the distinct impression this man wants to pound me next. With his cock. Please, God, I did not just think that, Melanie would. Another tightening in my womb distresses me.
“REMY! REMY! REMY! REMY!” People chant, the chant growing in intensity.
“You want more Remy?” the man with the microphone asks the crowd, and the noise intensifies. “Alright then, people! Let’s bring out a worthier opponent for Remington “Riptide” Tate tonight!”
Another man steps into the ring, and I can’t bear it anymore. My system is on overload. This is probably why it’s not a good idea to forego sex for so many years. Why I might need to start looking into vibrators, so I can go out like a normal human being and appreciate a beautiful man without getting worked up about him.
And I’m so worked up, I can barely talk right, barely even make my legs move as I turn to Mel and tell her I’m going to the restroom.
A voice blares loudly through the speakers while I charge down the wide path between the stands, “And now, to challenge our reigning champion, ladies and gentlemen, is Parker the “Terror” Drake!”
The crowd comes alive, and suddenly I hear an unmistakably hard slam.
I round the corner and resist the urge to look back at what’s causing a sudden commotion. Instead I head straight for the bathroom hall when the speakers flare up again. “Holy cow, that was fast! We have a KO! Yes, ladies and gentlemen! A KO! And in record time, our victor once again, I give you, Riptide! Riptide, who’s now jumping off the ring and—where the hell are you going…?”
The crowd goes crazy, calling all the way to the lobby, “Riptide! Riptide!” and then they fall completely quiet, as though something unscripted has just happened.
I wonder about the eerie silence when pounding footsteps echo at my back. A warm hand engulfs mine, and the touch frissons through me as I’m spun around with surprising force.

.#Excerpt The Edge of Always by @JRedmerski

Author: J.A. Redmerski
Publisher: Hachette Book Group
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age Group: New Adult
Expected release date: November 5, 2013

He was taking the long road. She was taking the road to nowhere. It just so happened that they led to the same place… Five months ago, Camryn and Andrew, both dealing with personal hardships, met on a Greyhound bus. They fell in love and proved that when two people are meant to be together, fate will find a way to make it happen. Now, in the highly anticipated sequel to THE EDGE OF NEVER, Camryn and Andrew are pursuing their love for music and living life to the fullest as they always swore to do. But when tragedy befalls them, their relationship is put to the ultimate test.  As Camryn tries to numb her pain, Andrew makes a bold decision: To get their life back on track, they’ll set out on another cross-country road trip. Together they find excitement, passion, adventure—and challenges they never could have anticipated. Sexy. Daring. Dangerous. THE EDGE OF ALWAYS takes you on a ride you won’t forget .

Camryn shrieks and I start laughing as we dash away from the cows and toward the car.
“Awww, shiiiit!” I yell when I step in a huge pile of it.
Camryn cackles with laughter and we both practically stumble the rest of the way through the field, me trying to scrape the shit off the bottom of my shoe while running at the same time and Camryn’s flip-flops getting caught on the ground trying to keep up with her feet.
“I can’t believe that just happened!” Camryn laughs as we finally make it back to the car. She arches her body over forward and props her hands on her knees, trying to catch her breath.
I’m out of breath, too, but I still relentlessly scrape the bottom of my shoe on the asphalt. “Dammit!” I say, rubbing my foot back and forth.
Camryn jumps up on the hood of the car, letting her legs hang over the front. “Can we finally say that we did it?” she asks with laughter in her voice.
I stand still finally and catch my breath. I look at her, at how beautiful and bright that smile of hers is and I say, “Yeah, babe, I think we can safely mark it off our list.”
“Good!” she says.
Then she points behind me. “Do it on the grass,” she says with one side of her mouth pinched into a hard line. “You’re just spreading it around doing it like that.”
I hop over into the grass and start rubbing my foot back and forth again. “Since when did you become an expert on shit?”
“Better watch your mouth,” she warns, getting into the driver’s seat.
“What are you going to do?” I taunt her.
She starts the Chevelle and revs the engine a few times pressing on the gas. There’s a cruel gleam in her eyes. She props her left arm across the top of the open window and next thing I know she’s driving slowly past me.
I give her the warning eye, but her grin just gets bigger.
“I know you won’t leave me here!” I shout as she goes past me.
Surely she wouldn’t….
She gets farther away and at first I call her bluff and just stand here, watching her get smaller and smaller…
Finally, I take off running after the car.

.#REVIEW: Sea Of Tranquility by Katja Millay

The Sea of TranquilityThe Sea of Tranquility
Kindle Edition, 448 pages
Published November 13th 2012 by Atria Books
*Received from pub. for review

I live in a world without magic or miracles. A place where there are no clairvoyants or shapeshifters, no angels or superhuman boys to save you. A place where people die and music disintegrates and things suck. I am pressed so hard against the earth by the weight of reality that some days I wonder how I am still able to lift my feet to walk.

Former piano prodigy Nastya Kashnikov wants two things: to get through high school without anyone learning about her past and to make the boy who took everything from her—her identity, her spirit, her will to live—pay.

Josh Bennett’s story is no secret: every person he loves has been taken from his life until, at seventeen years old, there is no one left. Now all he wants is be left alone and people allow it because when your name is synonymous with death, everyone tends to give you your space.

Everyone except Nastya, the mysterious new girl at school who starts showing up and won’t go away until she’s insinuated herself into every aspect of his life. But the more he gets to know her, the more of an enigma she becomes. As their relationship intensifies and the unanswered questions begin to pile up, he starts to wonder if he will ever learn the secrets she’s been hiding—or if he even wants to.

The Sea of Tranquility is a rich, intense, and brilliantly imagined story about a lonely boy, an emotionally fragile girl, and the miracle of second chances.

Beautifully written story about broken characters, second chances, healing, and so much more.

What can I say about this book that hasn't already been said? Hmm... NOTHING REALLY! It is a must read, especially for Young Adults.

Characters that leap from the pages, that were so life like.

Nastya is in high school. She is a  bad ass wearing all black, mini skirts, heels to the sky, make-up, tough as nails. BUT BROKEN! VERY BROKEN! So broken in fact she doesn't speak, choosing not to. Not one single word has been uttered from her lips, since something major that has happened in her life. Day in day out you can read her thoughts, but she never shares them verbally with anyone. A shell of her former self, after tragedy be fells her.

Living with her aunt, she escapes the pain her family feels for her. Your left wondering what could've scarred this girl into never speaking again. Friendless, except for a boy who seems to enjoy speaking to her with her not responding other than an occasional hand gesture, or eye-roll Drew seems to like the idea of her not being able to talk. He's popular especially with the ladies and he kind of uses Nastya, but not in a bad way. In a way that benefits himself from being bothered, by girls in general. They think these two are an item, No harm, no foul, for these two. Nastya generally like Drew, as he tries to communicate with her through meaningless sexual innuendo.

Drew's best friend Josh , is a different story. He has caught Nastya's eye, as he is a loner, that no one bothers with. Having been through his own broken, sad past he seems to walk around inside a bubble, and that is something Nastya envy's, having wanting the same for herself. As these broken friends become intertwined in each other's lives, Josh and Nastya become closer and a sort of strange but endearing friendship starts, as they accept each other and learn and grow from one another.

Josh is Nastya's healing grace. He is someone that accepts her, and seems to understand her without words being said. As the story unfolds you will slowly learn about these two and their past, and why these two need each other, and why it makes sense that they are together. Josh helps Nastya more than anyone else has. She learns to let go little by little.

I loved everything about this story, from Nastya to Drew's loving mother, who was like a mother hen to everyone. I loved Josh and how he accepted Nastya and was there for her--her savior in so many ways.
I loved how the author kept you guessing as to the whys and what's of what happened to Nastya. I just loved the whole story. Read it. Savor it.
Oh, I also loved the message I got from this engaging read--

No matter how broken someone is, it can take one person, or thing to change everything, and begin the healing process, and relive life again. Never give up!

5/5

“There are so many things that can break you if there's nothing to hold you together.”

“I am pressed so hard against the earth by the weight of reality that some days I wonder how I am still able to lift my feet to walk.”

“What did you call her?" she asks but I don't think it's her real question.
"Sunshine," I say, and she smiles like she believes it's perfect and she may be the only person other than me who would think so.
"What is she to you?" she whispers. The real question and I know the answer even if I don't know how to say it.
Drew's muffled voice rises up from the floor before I can respond.
"Family," he says.
And he's right.”

When you look at her what do you feel?... Joy, fear, frustration, longing, friendship, anger, need, despair, love, lust?"
"Yes."
"Yes, what?"
"All of it.”

“I was ripped out of the water and thrown and smashed into a thousand pieces that I can't put back together. I don't know where they go. And there are so many missing that the ones that are left don't fit together anymore. I think I'll stay in pieces. I can shift them, rearrange, depending on the day, depending on what I need to be.”
