When an author can make you love a bad, bad man, then you know that author is good.
When you invest yourself into the characters and it makes you feel emotional,
and creates a sense of euphoria and sadness all at the same time, guess what, then you know that author is more then good. They are great!
THIS IS THAT KIND OF BOOK AND AUTHOR!

Ellie Watt aka Eden White, is out for revenge! Revenge over what happened to her when she was younger. She's a bad-ass in her own right.  She comes from con artist parents, having to live the life on the road, she basically learns the life of a con, but she is different then her parents. Not having them around for support, she seeks out an old family friend, and he teaches her the ways of being a con. The do's and don'ts. She's ready for this, but having to go up against a drug lord is not an easy task. She has her mark, she's set her sights, and she's ready. The only thing she didn't anticipate was having feelings for the person that can connect her to her mark.

Jaiver YOU, YOU, dirty rotten scoundrel!  Your such a bad-ass, a ruthless sexy-mofo . You had me right from the start. A Latino lover, hmmm... Eden your one lucky girl!

But, then your true colors shined through, and you were BAD, and I mean dangerously BAD. You scared me at times, had me walking on cloud nine, and then you SHATTERED ME and MY HEART into a million pieces!! OH, and yea, Eden's too!

Jaiver is the bridge to getting to Eden's mark, but he proves to be more, oh so much more. He's suave, sexy, and oh so dangerous all at the same time. He radiates heat and danger. As these two get closer he uses his charm on Eden, and basically wins her over. He's romantic at times, loving, and so good in the bedroom. He makes her feel like a queen. Having no idea of Eden's true intentions he wraps her up in his life and they ultimately fall for each other. But, like I said Jaivar is dangerous and Eden is frightened many times by his dangerous lifestyle. She accepts him and throws caution and her quest for revenge out the window. When all is good and life can't seem to get any better, yep it happens, KABOOM, and everything Eden thought she had is now shattered into a million pieces, and she will have to deal with the ultimate betrayal.

Miss Halle does an incredible job at working you up in this short, but oh so sweet novella. You will love this book, and it is a must read for not only fans of New Adult/Adult, but fans of Urban Fantasies, yes UF, without the paranormal that's what this felt like. Love the TV show Revenge, then you will love this book. Love having a writer rip you apart at the seams, yep then this is the book for you.

Oh, and one last thing. I know a lot of people don't read novella's. I'm not sure why, maybe they feel bored by the short, or they feel that it's not long enough to wet their appetite, well I'm here to prove you wrong. This book, and many others out there are worthy of your time. So don't pass on some great reads, and insights to a series.

More like a dozen!

“So, what would you like to drink?”
“Aside from you?”
I laughed anxiously. “You can’t drink me.”
He leaned forward, his eyes running up and down my body, causing my skin to heat. “Yes, I believe I can. And I believe I will. But for now, I’ll just have a Bombay and tonic.”

“Why am I good to you?” he repeated, his lips brushing against mine as he spoke.
“Because I can see you are broken. And I want nothing more than to put you back together.”

“I’m scared of him. I’m disgusted by the vile monster he becomes, this beast he lets out. But I still love him. I’d still do anything for him. I can’t just turn off my heart. I want to, I do, but I can’t. I love him with everything I have and I hate myself for it. Because it’s wrong to love him, I know. It’s so wrong.”

“You know,” he began, voice low and full, “if you were to ever leave me, I’d come looking for you, on every street.”
“You promise?”
“Always.” And I knew he kept his promises.”

One of THE BEST Young Adult books that I've ever read!

Sometimes a book takes you into a journey, grips you, holds you down, with no release. That's why I love to read, and these are the books that make it happen for me.

This book is one of them.

Outrageous. Contagious. Simple. Thought provoking. Raw. Heartbreaking. Defying. Poetic. Caring. Charming. Fantastic. Maddening. Emotional. Life. Death. Sadness. Growth. Love. Hate!

Ladies and Gentlemen!  What we have here is a WINNER!

I'm not going to get into the plot of this story, instead I'm going to express my love for this book and it's characters.

Will your a hero in my eyes. Your young and full of responsibility. You put others first, you've been through a ton of drama, but your a MAN, not a BOY at twenty-one. Your mature and had to grow up way too fast. I hurt for you, and your loss. Your words slayed me and tore at my sole. I only wished things could of been easier for you. It's tough to have so many road blocks in the way of life and love, but so many times you did the right thing. You could of been selfish and throw caution to the wind, but you knew what came first at the time, and I give you much props for choosing to make the right decisions. Your words were inspiring, and inspired others. You will make a great teacher, someday. I hope your relationship with Lake has less obstacles in the way. You deserve happiness, and a new family is what can come from all the sadness.

Lake-Yes, I'm going to call you that, because we are friends. Your similar in so many ways to Will. HE IS YOUR SOUL MATE! Don't let him slip away. I cried for you and what you had to endure, not once, but twice! Your becoming stronger and braver and just as responsible as Will. I know at times it was tough, and your heart seemed to shatter into a million pieces, but your Mom & Dad raised you right, and I'm glad you found your way without giving up on those that loved you. You were a little immature at times, but I accepted that. I saw how Will made you see things in a different light and I praise him for it. You must know how much your parents loved you, and I'm so glad you took on such a huge responsibility. I hurt for you, and what you lost. Hold tight to the memories, because that's all there is. Clasp tightly to your clip, and to what you have left.

Eddie-BRAVE is what comes to mind. You lead a tough life, your words broke me down and had me bawling. I'll never look at a pink balloon the same way again. I hurt for you, but I'm so glad you found the strength to be the person you are today. Thank goodness you found a family, and Gavin. Gavin is your soul mate, and loves you with every fiber of his body, I can tell!

Gavin- You too, had me surprised at your maturity. You loved Eddie, and made her complete. You make her a better person., and I love how you expressed your love to her.

Slammed is a poetic, beautifully written, young adult book.  It's like your favorite warm blanket on a cold winter's night. It's a definite must read, and holds a special place on my bookshelf. The words will grip you as well as the characters, and to add to all the greatness is the powerful "Slams"
LOVE, LOVE IT!
Miss Hoover thank you! Your words are inspiring, thought provoking, and just plain beautiful.

If I could shower you with 100 rose petals that is where my love
holds true for this book!

   “BLUE SWEATER
Bom Bom...
Bom Bom...
Bom Bom...
Do you hear that?
That's the sound of my heart beating...
Bom Bom...
Bom Bom...
Bom Bom...
Do you hear that? That's the sound of your heart beating.
It was the first day of October. I was wearing my blue sweater, you know the one I bought at Dillard’s? The one with a double knitted hem and holes in the ends of the sleeves that I could poke my thumbs through when it was cold but I didn't feel like wearing gloves? It was the same sweater you said made my eyes look like reflections of the stars on the ocean.
You promised to love me forever that night...
and boy
did you
ever!

It was the first day of December this time.

I told you I was three weeks late
You said it was fate.
You promised to love me forever that night...
and boy
did you
ever!

It was the first day of May. I was wearing my blue sweater, although this time the double stitched hem was wornand the strength of each thread tested as they were pulled tight against my growing belly. You know the one. The same one I bought at Dillard’s? The one with holes in the ends of the
sleeves that I could poke my thumbs through when it was cold
but I didn't feel like wearing gloves? It was the same sweater
you said made my eyes look like reflections of the stars on the
ocean.
The SAME sweater you RIPPED off of my body as
you shoved me to the floor,
calling me a whore ,
telling me
you didn't love me
anymore.
Bom Bom...
Bom Bom...
Bom Bom...
Do you hear that? That's the sound of my heart beating.
Bom Bom...
Bom Bom...
Bom Bom...
Do you hear that? That's the sound of your heart
beating.
(There is a long silence as she clasps her hands to her stomach, tears streaming down her face)
Do you hear that? Of course you don't. That's the silence
of my womb.
Because you
RIPPED
OFF
MY
SWEATER!
