His eyes were magnetic.
His lips were a temptation....
But was he real?
After crashing her car on an empty highway, Shane is miraculously saved by Travis, a mysterious cowboy who walks out of nowhere. She is instantly attracted to him, and for the first time, she believes in “soul mates.” But Shane soon discovers that Travis is dead and that strict rules from the Underworld govern kindred spirits of different dimensions. Breaking these rules could destroy both their souls. And while Travis is almost impossible to resist, temptation proves to be the kindest enemy they encounter.
Can true love surpass the power of pure evil? Part love story, part supernatural thriller, this first book in the Kindred trilogy will leave readers lusting for more.

Review:
This book had a great start and I was sucked into the plot right from the beginning, it had a suspenseful start until... about 140pgs. in...
Shane crashes her car in the desert, and that's when her life changes forever. As she's basically on the brink of death, a boy comes out of nowhere and saves her. A mystery, in itself we learn this boy is not alive, no, he's dead. Having died at almost the same exact spot as where Shane crashes, we slowly learn what he is and the mystery that surrounds him, and what his goal is. Yes, he has a goal to get out of the realm he's forced to exsist in. Travis is basically a solid entity by day, but at night he becomes a ghostly, non-exsitant figure. Shane falls for Travis but doesn't realize what he is exactly, but slowly the mystery is unveiled and we learn all about Travis past. In that past, there was an evil villian who seeked revenge on Travis and his brother and now in this other life, he's once again seeking revenge. The best way to seek revenge is to of course hurt the ones you love, hence Shane will become the way this villian gets to Travis.
Now, there is so more to this story then what I'm going to elaborate,
I believe my interest started to wain, because it seemed
the story, had depth, and so much more potential, but I felt like the mark was missed within the second 1/2 of the story and for some reason it felt like the author had a hard time grasping the flow of the storyline. It seemed like her characters became less, and less interesting as the book went on, and the action and flow just seemed to slow down and actually became quite boring, until the end when things started to heat up, again. The characters love story seemed to be forced and lacking the spark to really enjoy them as a couple.
The ending seemed to peak my interest and I'm still on the fence over weather or not I'll be reading the next one. I actually felt like this book was written by two different people, and the middle was thrown together in haste.
The ending is a to-be-continued and abruptly ended...
3/5 Stars
Don't let my feelings sway you from trying it out for yourself, heck maybe it was just me. Being that I'm not a teen, maybe that could be the reason why I just felt like it missed the mark.
So, here's your chance to read it for yourself. I'm giving away my arc copy plus some surprise swag as a giveaway.

The last book that I read was He's with me and I didn't really like it. It was a quick ready but it was to fast for me. I need more details.
ReplyDeleteThe last book I read was Enchanted and it was a great book just not for me. The same thing kinda happened to me in that I loved the first half then got less interested as it went on.
ReplyDeleteI recently read Anna Dressed in Blood and I wasn't a huge fan I decided I don't really like horror books!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Fine Art of Truth or Dare by Melissa Jensen. I was expecting some great contemporary, and it was just kind of...meh.
ReplyDeleteI read "My Boyfriend Wrote A Book About Me." I thought it was going to be really funny, but it was very blah. Here's my review... http://drake26.blogspot.com/2012/01/book-review-my-boyfriend-wrote-book.html
ReplyDeleteI was super disappointed with The White Oak :(
ReplyDeleteThe most recent one is The Pearl.
ReplyDeleteI got a few chapters into Bookended by Beauty Queens and had to give up. I read further than I wanted to hoping something would draw me in...but nada. I feel terrible because I won the book and I feel like I should at the very least read and rate it. But if I hate it, the author would probably prefer I didn't mention it, right? Maybe I'll try again later.
ReplyDeleteThe last books i have read i liked all , last one was Morganville Vampire-Ghost town book 9, the plot was kindle week compared with the others, had to force myself not to skip some pages
ReplyDeleteThe Last Book i read was really good i haven't read a book that i didn't like. butterfli262002@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI was a little disappointed with Dark Eden #2 [Eve of Destruction] - it was probably
ReplyDeletejust me, but I didn't feel the level of mystery & excitement I did with the first book.
Thank you for the sweet giveaway :D

Oh no ! I was actually looking forward to getting a copy of this book for myself. :/
ReplyDeleteIt's to bad that the book ended up disappointing you.
Thanks for the honest review :)
I recently read I've Got You COvered and rated it 2 birds mostly because of all the errors in the books that weren't edited. Overall a good idea for a story but bad editing.
ReplyDeleteI am reading right now Dragonswood by Janet Lee Carey and I didn't seems to get into the story and it's a shame because I wanted to read it so bad and it looks and sounds really good, but I got more than the half to read so maybe I'll change my mind!
ReplyDeleteI read a graphic novel, Grimm Fairy Tales vol 11. I hadn't read the ones before but besides that I was very put off by how overly sexual the female characters were portrayed, :(
ReplyDeleteThe book called We Hear the Dead. I forget who it's by, but it was horrible.
ReplyDeleteNice review. I'm sorry the second half failed to move you. I hate when that happens, especially after time invested.
ReplyDeleteStarters by Lissa Price 10/10!! :)
ReplyDelete-JennyC
I was recently on the fence about Fated by Alyson Noel but she had a lot of fencer reviews. On that one I think I'll pick up the second to see if the writer got her grove on. Maybe that'll happen with this one, who knows??
ReplyDeleteThe last book I can remember giving a really low rating to was Carrier of the Mark. It was completely disappointing and inconsistent.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your reading experience with The Temptation wasn't very good. It sucks when the writing is all over the place!
I had to dnf Glow by Amy Kathleen. It just really wasn't for me. I couldn't get into it.
ReplyDeleteSometimes by Moonlight: A Novella...3/5
ReplyDeletei read The sword thief from the 39 clues series. 5/5!!
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say Beauty Queens by Libba Bray. I liked it, but it wasn't at all as amazing as people made it out to be.
ReplyDeleteGood day! I know this is kinda off topic however , I'd figured I'd ask.
