(Shadow Falls #5)
by C.C. Hunter
Paperback, 400 pages
Published April 23rd 2013 by St. Martin's Press
Kylie Galen's life hasn't been the same since her world was turned upside-down in Born at Midnight, Shadow Falls #1, and now an epic conclusion to her journey—not to mention a tough choice between two guys!—is brewing in Chosen at Nightfall:
When Kylie Galen left Shadow Falls, she thought it was the hardest decision of her life. Heartbroken and separated from everyone she loves, she has to embrace her abilities and what it means to be a chameleon. But as Kylie's journey comes to a close, she must return to the camp that started it all...and she must finally chose between the two boys who love her. The werewolf who broke her heart when he chose his pack over her, and the half-fae who ran from their intense attraction before they ever really had a chance. For Kylie, everything will finally be revealed and nothing will ever be the same

I'd like to welcome CC, back to my blog. She has been super busy but managed to steal away some time for my readers, to answer a couple of questions.
1) Fans will be closing the final chapter of the Shadow Falls Series, with Chosen at Nightfall. When writing the final scene, what were your thoughts and feelings?
I wasn’t thinking. I couldn’t. I was in up to my eyeballs in nothing but emotion. I was crying so hard. I mean, Kylie had been with me for over three years. And while I’ll still see her when I write Della’s books, I was so sad. It sort of felt like the time when I sent my daughter off for college—Kylie’s story had to end. I knew she had grown up, and I knew sending her off on her own was the plan all along, but I was going to miss her. Miss knowing all the day to day things she faced and lived. Now, when I reread the scene and polished it before sending to my editor, I tried to figure out that big take away value that a reader would get. I wanted the readers to feel as if Kylie’s journey had sort of come full circle. That the journey she had taken, had changed her. That she was a wiser characters who had taken life’s lessons and used them to help her grow into an amazing young woman.
2) What's next on your writing agenda?
Well, I’ve got a lot on my plate. I have sold a new, completely different series to St. Martins Griffin. But when I finished Chosen at Nightfall, I had this this big overwhelming desire to write a novella about Della and her mission with Steve. I hadn’t sold it, St. Martins hadn’t asked me for a novella, but the story just poured into my head one afternoon and I knew I had to write it. Della is such a… well, I’ll just say it. She’s a smartass. She speaks before she thinks. It gets her into trouble sometimes, but she was so much fun to write. And when my editor read it, she said, “Wow! This is fabulous. I love being inside Della’s head. Do you think you could write two or three more Shadow Falls books from Della’s point of view? So the next book I’ll be working on is the first of Della’s series. And if you guys haven’t read Saved at Sunrise, I recommend you do. It’s a really meaty e-novella and it’s only $1.99. So pick it up. I’m hoping my fans will fall in love with Della and be just as exited to read her books as they were to read Kylie’s.
Thanks for the interview and for sharing my series with your audience.
C.C. grew up in Alabama, where she caught lightning bugs, ran barefoot, and regularly rescued potential princes, in the form of Alabama bullfrogs, from her brothers. Today, she's still fascinated with lightning bugs, mostly wears shoes, but has turned her focus to rescuing mammals. She now lives in Texas with her four rescued cats, one dog, and a prince of a husband, who for the record, is so not a frog. When she's not writing, she's reading, spending time with her family, or is shooting things-with a camera, not a gun.
C.C. Hunter is a pseudonym. Her real name is Christie Craig and she also writes humorous romantic suspense romance novels for Grand Central. www.christie-craig.com
C.C. would love to hear from you. Because of deadlines, it may take her a day or so to get back with…
Good to hear the ending is packed with emotion. It is so hard reading the end of beloved series, so I can't even imagine writing them.

This is a series that I would really like to finish, I have only read the first one. My library doesn't have the rest of them. :( Thanks for sharing the interview.

My copy of Chosen at Nightfall came in the post this morning, and I'll be reading Saved at Sunrise beforehand. I already love Della and I'm delighted to hear there'll be a spin off from her POV :)
ReplyDeleteLovely interview and I love how the novella demanded to be written.
ReplyDeleteI loved this series so, so much. So much that I'm actually afraid to read the last book and am sort of glad I didn't get an advance copy. I read Della's novella (that just trips off of the tongue), I just can't imagine her without Kylie and Miranda. :( I can't wait to see what else C.C. has in store though.
ReplyDeleteI have the first book, Born at Midnight, sitting in my Kindle and I soooo hope I get to it soon!!! I'll go pick up the novella so I have it, too! It's cool that my library actually has all these books so I'm all set!! Nice little interview, girlie!!!
