(A re-imagining of The Fallen Star YA told as a New Adult Paranormal)
For twenty-one year-old Gemma, life has never been normal. She knows nothing about her past and has been haunted by the same monsters in her nightmares for the last few months. Unemotional and numb to life, she feels disconnected from everyone. Until the very first day she cries. After that, nothing in her life is the same.
Her emotions slowly surface and she starts experiencing love, happiness, and anger, feelings she never knew existed. But they leave her confused and she doesn’t know whether to embrace them or run away from them. Her life only gets more complicated when she meets Alex. Sexy, arrogant, and secretive, Alex can get under Gemma’s skin like no one can. Yet she’s drawn to him by an invisible connection she has no control over. She’s also seen him before. In her nightmares.
Every part of Gemma’s mind is screaming at her to stay away from Alex, but every other part of her is begging to get close to him. But the closer she gets, the more she realizes Alex knows more about her than he originally let on.As secrets about her past unravel, Gemma’s life becomes threatened. She needs to figure out what’s going on, before she winds up dead. But the only person she can turn to for answers is the one person she isn’t sure she can trust
The New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Jessica Sorensen, lives in the snowy mountains of Wyoming. When she's not writing, she spends her time reading and hanging out with her family.

A steamy mix of heat and paranormal!
Gemma, is someone so isolated and completely devoid of emotion, she can't feel anything; not hate, love, happiness, sadness, excitement, anger, frustration. She's racked daily with nightmares, and the only family she has, who have brought her up since she was one, her grandparents, treated her with no emotion and were detached from her. So, she basically lived her life like a void. Now, that she is in college, she still lacks emotions, until one day when she meets a guy who makes her feel. She feels an electric charge and it freaks her out and she seems drawn to this guy, as she wants to touch him, and be near him, an emotion she never felt before. She has dreams of a dark hooded boy, and other strange creatures. This dark hooded boy seems to be popping in and out of her life, through her dreams and reality.
Alex is the guy that will change Gemma's life, forever. He treats her indifferent, at first, as he is a cocky, arrogant, smart ass! Seemingly annoyed by her. He and his sister, Aislin are in class with Gemma. They sit next to Gemma, and Gemma continues to feel an electric current from Alex, especially if they touch. But, these two are not just in Gemma's class by some strange coincidence, No. They are there as a mission of sorts. Gemma slowly realizes Alex is the dark hooded boy she sees in her dreams/nightmares and thoughts. She has a difficult time understanding why he is in her head, and her life, but she knows something is different about him, and she can't deny the heat and passion she finally feels after living her whole life devoid of those emotions. She's basically horny as hell, once she starts to feel, and Alex is the one she is attracted to. Of course Alex wants her but he has to keep his emotions in check, but when it comes down to it he really can't deny Gemma. Alex has to protect Gemma, because Gemma may just be the key to saving the world!
The paranormal aspect of the book became overwhelming at times. There were so many creatures in this book like Keepers, Vampires, Werewolves, Faye, Foreseers, vampires, witches, and more that I may have missed. It just was a lot to take in, and seemed confusing at times. With seeing Gemma's dreams, reality became mixed with past and future events. It was hard to peg what was actually happening at times. In my opinion it felt weird at times. She would have flashes and you couldn't tell if the flashes were happening during the present, past, or future. The heat was pretty hot between Alex and Gemma, as at times there was steam and other times there was just flirting. Just reading about Alex and him trying to hold back, must of been tough at times for him ;) There is one more character that needs to be include, and its Laylen, a vampire whom is hot and I hope we see a lot more of him in the next book!
The storyline picks up full throttle towards the end of the book, and unfortunately we are left with a major cliffhanger, but the next book Fractured Souls, is set to be released in June, so it won't be too long of a wait. I look forward to reading the next installment, but first I'm going to be checking out Miss Sorenson's other books, because what I read shows potential, and I like the smexy scenes she writes!
“Gemma, I think you should stop... I don’t want to. You make me... F*ck, you make me feel alive.”
